Papakating Creek is a 20.1-mile-long (32.3 km)[1] tributary of the Wallkill River in Sussex County, New Jersey, in the United States.
The headwaters of this creek lie between Branchville and Wykertown, with the water running in a southeasterly direction to Plains and then turning northeast. The West Branch of Papakating Creek meets Papakating Creek east of McCoys Corner. Papakating Creek joins the Wallkill River just east of Sussex Borough. Reputed to have been referred to as "Pepper Cotton" during the period of the American Revolution, it has been suggested that the source of the name refers to the "valley of great hill or mountain".

The creek is stocked each year by NJ Fish and Game with Brook, Brown, and Rainbow Trout in the early spring.
